Event: Forest of Dean, Beechenhurst Lodge (25 Sep 2005) For details of the next event, join the Cani-Cross UK mailing list and receive email updates of future events CLICK HERE. With kind permission of Forest Enterprise, the Forest of Dean 5km cani-cross event on the 25 September 2005 was a huge success. We found an old overgrown logging track in the forest that hadnt been used in 10 years and decided to open it up again. A dash of mud and some long sections made it a tough course but it seems the majority of the runners rather enjoyed the challenge despite the weeds grabbing at their ankles. We are always pleased to oblige! We had great weather, fantastically well behaved beasties and the dogs were pretty good as well. The start times were rigid and this kept the flow of runners moving through the start line quickly and efficiently. The various breeds competing were quite stunning and too many to mention with the Afghan Hounds standing regally, staffies the size of miniatures next to the camera shy Great Dane (equally suited to eventing), border collies with all their fantastic enthusiasm, Siberian Huskies with their great pulling power and standard Poodles groomed for the occasion. Krufts couldnt have had a better turnout!
Thanks to all of you that ran, attended and cheered us all on, and as always, to our best mates for pulling us through the forest with speed, devotion and love. You always come first no matter what the finishing times are. To the marshals and helpers that gave of their time freely, a huge thank you. The last thank you must go to all our sponsors. Every competitor left the event with a goodie bag which would not have been possible without their support. To see the list of sponsors CLICK HERE.
