There's no gain without drain!

Haldon Hill as its commonly known was exactly that, a jolly fine hill! The course was a grueling 5.5km which included in the first 3.8km a gentle descent of 138 metres. Like all good things, where there's a down there's a great up - the remaining 1.7km was a relentless climb of 138 metres to the finish line. The elevation tackled on the 3.5km course was 103m.

The hill brought new meaning to 'there's no gain without drain', and the hill certainly helped to drain any surface water away leaving very little mud, although some runners did find mud to play in! Haldon is a beautiful forest and the general consensus was that it was an exciting and challenging course that on completion achieved a sense of accomplishment. The new signage had an overall thumbs up and was said that the markers could be seen from a long distance (none were altered by the gremlins).

Once again we had a great variety of breeds that all looked the same when they crossed the finish line - happy, muddy, cani-cross dogs.

The rain played games with us all day and it is a credit to all the runners and supporters, especially those that helped pack things away after prize giving in double quick time - well done!

See you at Nightingale Wood, Swindon, a flat meandering course through an enchanting new forest.
