Whistle stop run

The Delamere course included a whistle stop tour along the southern shore of Blakemere Moss. The lake formed from two kettle holes (water filled hollows) at the end of the ice age. Since acquiring the site in 1996, the Forestry Commission have managed the area as a wetland — creating a stunning prehistoric visitor attraction and home for zillions of birds.

Following the kilometre run along the shore, the remainder of the run was through gentle undulating forest tracks and grassy trails.

We had some good times in the M class with 3 Siberian Huskies vying for top dog but were just pipped at the post by Border Collie Misty and German Short Haired pointer Oscar who are both well up for the Championship finale at Cheltenham Racecourse on the 22 April.

In VM class, Border Collies took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places — speeding bullets come to mind.

XF class (2-dog) was won by a GWP & GSP team, followed by an English Pointer & Labrador team and Staffie & Hungarian Visla team. A great mix with great times.

The first three teams across the line in XM class (2-dog) had great symmetry — 2 Huskies, followed by 2 Labs and 2 Whippets.

Fastest time of the day was 19:13 — I Preston with his Border Collie. (full results)

It was a brilliant day helped enormously by the sunshine and enthusiastic applause at the finish line.

The next event is at Cheltenham Racecourse on the 22.4.07 which includes both the Cheltenham event's prizegiving and the Championship prizegiving.
